Intellectually Stimulating Humour, The Crown Jewel of Comedy

Comedy legend Wil Anderson returns to the 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival with what has to be his finest work yet.
Different from his usual self-deprecating materials and dick jokes, Wil’s brand new show Fire At Wil focuses more on politics and all the important issues surrounding us: from Tony Abbott being every comedians “wet dreams” to Malcolm Turnbull destroying his and many comedians’ lives; from Andrew Bolt, reclaim Australia and anti-vaxxers of Brunswick to racism, refugees, Adam Goodes, Australia Day, Halal foods (listening to Adele’s Hello will never be the same) and the importance of working together in a growing nation, Wil leaves no stones unturned; and the beauty of it all? Without forcing his opinion down our throats, he delivers his materials eloquently with firm gentle reminders and suggestions on what we can do as a nation to make things better. Of course, being the Wil Anderson that we love, he still adds a self-deprecating anecdote into the show as he recalls the day he burnt a toast and subsequently caused a toaster to go on fire at the Qantas Lounge.
Having gone to see his work in progress back in October 2015, it was phenomenal to see the refined and seamless end product that is Fire At Wil. Brilliantly written with an abundance of impeccably witty, intellectually stimulating humour, Fire At Wil has Wil’s intelligent humour and exceptionally seamless storytelling oozing out from all corners; truly showcasing the comedy genius-ness that is Wil Anderson.
Fire at Wil will constantly leave its audience roar with laughter and gasping for air.
